Following is a listing of antique firearms my brother and I
inherited from my uncle. If you have any interest, please
contact me via the e-mail at
RJJ@hydroflotech.comNOTE: It is difficult to convey the
actual condition of these items over the Internet. The photos
give a good overall indication, but the true color and actual
surface qualities are hard to capture. If you have viewed many
items like this on the Internet, or have tried to take photos of
similar items in your collection, you should be able to form a
representative image in your minds eye.
Model 1865 Spencer Repeating Rifle
Pat'd march 6th 1860
Manuf'd at Prov. R. I.
by Burnside Rifle Co
SN 306**
Asking Price $3,500
FULLY ORIGINAL, FULLY FUNCTIONING
While not necessarily museum quality, this is an above average,
high quality piece. The quality is high enough that I believe
anyone should be proud to call this piece their own. I have searched the
Internet over the last year in an attempt to find a similar example
listed for sale, but as of yet, I have not seen one. That is
not to say that this gun is without flaws. It is just that,
overall, it is an above average example.

The color of the barrel is a nice even grey with little or no
bluing remaining. Also, you will note that there is some
corrosion present on the barrel. I have tried to publish
images that will give you an indication as to the extent of this
corrosion.
I am no expert, but it appears to me that most of the detracting
marks on the piece are a result of where the carbine barrel rubbed
against the saddle ring (see the close up shots of the barrel).
The wood stock (as well as the entire mechanism from the site to the
butt) is in exceptional shape. This carbine is in working order,
but should be closely inspected prior to firing.
NOTE: As a minor item, I should note that the brass screw holding the hammer to the rest of the
mechanism appears to be incorrect. This should be easy to
rectify bringing this piece back to fully original condition.
Model 1873 Winchester Lever Action Repeating Rifle
Winchester Repeating Arms New Haven Conn. USA
King's Improvement Patented March 29 1866. October 16 1860
SN 451,1**B
Asking Price $1,800
FULLY ORIGINAL, FULLY FUNCTIONING
I would consider this piece to be about average when compared to
the available items I have seen. What makes this item stand
out when compared to others available is the VERY nice flip up front
and rear sites. I would judge the condition of the sites to be
markedly better than that of the rifle itself. All surfaces
(of the sites) appear to be fully original with no corrosion present. The
sites are a premium item installed on an average rifle.

Model 1873 Springfield Rifle
US Model 1873
SN 166,3**
Asking Price $1,100
FULLY ORIGINAL, FULLY FUNCTIONING
I would consider this piece to be typical of what is available
when compared to other items I have seen. The stock was broken
in two places and professionally repaired (I prefer to think of this
piece being broken during the heat of battle, as opposed to some
fool breaking it when attempting to use it as a make shift pry bar
or some other such foolishness). Also, this item is
missing the "ramrod" ??? I do not know why this rifle would
require one, but the groove on the underside of the barrel looks to
have housed some type of rod. In any event, whatever it was,
is missing.
